On the afternoon of April 27, at the wharf of zone 4 of Zhangzhou Development Zone, an autonomous red “Little King Kong” slowly started driving along the designated route, marking the official release of the first self-developed autonomous tractor “Spruce” of Wisdom(Fujian)Motor Co., Ltd. This is also the first self-developed autonomous tractor in Fujian Province.

At the test site, through real-time remote control and synchronous data acquisition, the staff analyzed the basic physical parameters such as braking distance, turning radius, torque and speed of different loads of autonomous tractor and constructed the driving data model of autonomous tractor.
It is reported that the vehicle is the first self-driving new energy tractor tailored for the port based on commercial frame. The whole vehicle adopts advanced electric system, which is environmental protection, cool appearance, strong power and cost-effective. The maximum traction weight is about 60 tons. The world’s leading imaging PMCW millimeter wave radar is used as the main sensor, video fusion is used to realize all-weather and all-time perception, Beidou GNSS and spruce intelligent road signs are used for high-precision and reliable positioning and navigation, and a variety of vehicle road coordination strategies are used to realize the traffic management of unmanned and manned intersection operation.
“Our autonomous tractor uses world-leading millimeter wave radar to realize all-weater sensing in combiantion with video and can always maintain the centimeter level vehicle control accuracy regardless of sunny or rainy days. It is the first autonomous tractor tailored for the port based on commercial frame in China, which can replace the traditional magnetic nail / AGV scheme and reduce one third the cost to the traditional scheme , and it can be applied to both the new port construction and the reconstruction of old ports, “said Gao Zongli, technical director of Wisdom.
He also introduced that “In addition to unmanned driving in the port, our autonomous tractor can also be applied to a variety of fixed production and living scenes such as mines and large enterprise sites, which greatly reduces labor costs, enhances work efficiency and safety, and has broad market promotion potential.”
At present, Wisdom autonomous tractor has been recognized by intended customers. It is expected that customers will purchase and establish a small-scale automatic fleet in the second half of 2020 for the landing test run of unmanned automatic operation in port horizontal transportation. In the future, Wisdom(Fujian) Motor Co., Ltd. will increase R & D investment in the field of autonomous, and will develop and produce more special autonomous vehicles to meet the specific needs of more scenarios.
