Geelong, Australia – June 13, 2025 – In a major milestone for sustainable transport, Wisdom Motor marked the Australian debut of its 49-ton hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at the country’s first publicly accessible green hydrogen refueling station, located at the Viva Energy New Energies Hub in Geelong. The $62 million facility, officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister The Hon. Richard Marles, represents a significant step forward in Australia’s transition to clean heavy transport.
A New Era for Zero-Emission Heavy Haulage:
Developed in collaboration with strategic partner HDrive, Wisdom Motor’s 49-ton hydrogen FCEV prime mover will be operated by Barwon Water, transporting organic waste over distances of up to 600 km—entirely emission-free.
In a symbolic gesture of commitment to the clean energy transition, Deputy Prime Minister Marles personally refueled the vehicle during the launch, highlighting the government’s strong support for hydrogen mobility and confidence in Wisdom Motor’s technology.
Smart Infrastructure Meets Sustainable Innovation:
The Viva Energy Hub integrates hydrogen manufacturing and refuelling infrastructure, powered by a 2.5MW electrolyser that produces over 1 ton of green hydrogen daily using recycled water. Key features include:
- Multi-Fuel Refuelling – Supports hydrogen refuelling for heavy vehicles and 350kW fast EV charging
- 2.5MW Electrolyser – Converts recycled water into green hydrogen on-site
- Public and Government Support – Backed by $34M AUD from ARENA and $1M AUD from the Victorian Government.
