Wisdom has recently achieved two major milestones in the UK market—its collaborations with Cambridge-based operator Whippet and southern England operator Go Coach have both yielded remarkable results. Three electric bus models, V7, V10 and V12, have demonstrated adaptability and reliability in different regions, becoming key components of the UK’s green transportation network.
In Cambridge, Wisdom V12 electric buses have served Whippet’s “Universal” route for two years, a service contracted to support the University of Cambridge—a world-renowned institution with rigorous standards for operational efficiency, environmental protection, and passenger experience. Since entering operation in 2023, nine V12 buses have accumulated over 500,000 miles, equivalent to reducing 450 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This achievement has not only been featured in special reports by leading UK bus media Bus&Coach Buyer and Route One but has also allowed residents in historic districts like Silver Street to bid farewell to exhaust fumes and noise from traditional fuel-powered buses. As the designated transport solution for the university’s daily commutes, campus events, and academic activities, the V12 meets the high demands of a community that values precision and sustainability. As a 44-seat mainstay model, the V12 maintains an availability rate of over 99%, ensuring “on-schedule daily departures”—a critical requirement for supporting the university’s busy schedule of lectures, conferences, and student activities. Its low-noise and smooth driving performance have driven passenger satisfaction to rise for two consecutive years, with positive feedback from students, faculty, and visiting scholars.
During operation, Wisdom and Whippet have launched a series of localized services tailored to the university community: in February 2025, they introduced “Cambridge-accented” station announcements recorded by University of Cambridge students; additional vehicles were deployed to transport over 20,000 visitors during the university’s open day; and real-time updates of rowing race victories—an iconic event for the university—were displayed on in-vehicle screens. Tay Cheong Lip, Global President of Wisdom, stated, “We reject a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. The V12 is fully designed to adapt to Cambridge’s road conditions, and 7×24 technical support ensures stable operation—especially important for a partner like the University of Cambridge, where reliability directly impacts academic and campus life.” Recently, he led a team to visit Whippet, and the two parties plan to collaborate with NEC to upgrade the on-board information system, further enhancing the travel experience for the university and local community.
Meanwhile, in southern England, Wisdom’s V7 and V10 electric buses have become the “green backbone” of Go Coach’s fleet. As the largest independent bus operator in Kent, Go Coach runs 46 routes covering Kent, East Sussex, and South London, serving over 5,000 passengers daily. The newly introduced V10 (25 seats, including 2 wheelchair spaces, 330km range) and V7 (14 seats, 230km range) feature low-floor designs, customized for narrow streets to balance passenger capacity and boarding convenience.
Wisdom has also partnered with Go Coach and Imperial Engineering to build a more comprehensive UK after-sales support network. “Localized services lay the foundation for long-term cooperation,” Tay emphasized, noting that this layout will ensure stable operation of existing vehicles and pave the way for expanded collaboration.
From the 500,000-mile emission-free milestone in Cambridge—supporting one of the world’s top universities—to customized route services in southern regions, Wisdom continues to support the UK in building an efficient zero-carbon transportation system through its “region-specific adaptation + local service” strategy.
